Mama's royal cafe

Known as the oldest gringo restaurant in downtown Cabo San Lucas, so says chef-owner, Spencer Moore, Mama's Royal Cafe opened in 1991 and it is still going strong.

Specializing in bountiful breakfasts like mama used to make, Mama's Royal Cafe has something for every appetite, from fresh fruit plates and smoothies, to 40 variations of omelets, including a King Kong Omelet that has the works.

Start with fresh-squeezed juices of orange, grapefruit, mango, and papaya, or a Mimosa from the full bar before indulging in a traditional Mexican dish of the tried and true Huevos Rancheros, a fried egg atop a corn tortilla smothered in ranchero sauce or Nopalitos con Huevos, scrambled eggs with fresh cactus and mild chiles, or any one of many more regional dishes.

American-style breakfasts include homemade hash and eggs, crepes with just-the-right-lemony-taste hollandaise, smoked pork chops, and Texas Tornado, a chicken-filled crepe with poblano chiles and avocado.

Besides the traditional Eggs Benedict, other variations are offered with avocado, grilled tomato, or spinach and mushrooms. Locals and visitors alike opt for the legendary World's Best French Toast stuffed with cream cheese, topped with bananas and pecans and flambe in orange liqueur or topped with strawberries or mangos. Bottomless coffee includes decaf.

This neighborhood eatery opens daily at 7:30 am, serving breakfast until 2:00 pm, and lunch with sandwiches and salads on the menu.
Reviews
Wow! I've been to Cabo almost a dozen times and just learned about Mama's Royal Cafe searching for a great breakfast online. The reviews were really good and this place did not disappoint. Great menu, great prices, and great service! I had Huevos Rancheros the first morning and it was delicious. I think the cost was $6.75 The second day I had a crab & avocado omelette.... equally as delicious and also split their house speciality french toast. The have a specials menu as well as a complete menu with lots of choices. I will definitely return on my next trip and share it with friends.
